Stacy Mar - Breathe You
This is the June, July, and August,
Where my soul awakened and dripped
In syllables, words, a monogram of me
Falling from between the green of your hooded eyes.

And there is the place where we meet,
An undressing, ingathering of sharp points,
The grasping of bony fingers falling asleep
Atop each others hearts, a tangle of arms and limbs.

And this is the darkened sky, that pedestrian spy,
Where across the stars I lay my head.
I close my eyes to dreams thronged with
Pink hearts, cupid’s arrow and love unlike Madame Bovary’s.

And here is my body that you love,
The subservient part of me, it wears my love for you,
Librarian savvy and adorned in pink, I wrap
The inseparable parts of you in my scarf, it rests below my chin.

Lover, we are of the ever-after variety,
A pale blur shooting from within the universe,
We pierce the sky, strip continents the distance,
A magenta sunset, an eclipse at midnight, moonlight across the bay.

We are everything, open arms and love falling
Across a screen, wedging itself between sentences we type.
We are song lyrics and logic, tears of happiness
Crawling across cheeks that smile wide, they smile for us.

You are the pagoda shade to my sensitivity,
And me, I am of silliness and a wide smile.
Your poet, your synonym in this vast and desolate place where
I rest my face against your forehead, and breathe you.
