Jennifer A. Hudson - In Between
|
I.
In your sunlit eyes lie emerald hills and golden prairies
to frolic in and run among.
Between your soft parted lips grow dew-showered buds
to dance the Rite of Spring.
In your graceful neck stands a strong canal
to carry the wind’s otherworldly songs.
Between your full breasts rests a thirsting cavity
to be filled with kindness’s milk.
In your smooth abdomen expands a pulpy pomegranate
to juice up endless worlds.
Between your velvety thighs swells a sapphire bay
to roll peninsular sands in and out.
II.
If you are the earth,
then I am the full moon
that never rose above your hungry flesh
or plunged into your high tide,
though I hear your calls from the depths of longing.
Miles may stand between us
but my spirit dwells inside of you,
terra incognita,
waiting for the primal well to overflow.
